Select a borewell controller to match the motor, starter and required control function. The reliable starting point is the pump or motor nameplate and the starter documentation—not the number or colour of visible wires.
How to confirm single-phase or three-phase
- Read an accessible nameplate. Look for the motor phase, rated voltage, HP/kW and current. Do not open a live panel to find this information.
- Check the starter documentation. Ask the installer, electrician or pump supplier to confirm the motor and starter arrangement.
- Send a clear photo if unsure. An accessible motor label and the closed starter-panel label can help the selection team identify what still needs confirmation.
Single-phase and three-phase controller requirements
| Selection point | Single-phase | Three-phase |
|---|---|---|
| What determines the choice? | The actual single-phase motor rating and compatible starter/control arrangement. | The actual three-phase motor rating and compatible starter/control arrangement. |
| Published Sri DIGITEK range | 180–260 V AC for single-phase models. | 360–480 V AC for three-phase models. |
| Protection to check | Required voltage, dry-run/delivery-loss and model-specific surge protection. | Required voltage, dry-run/delivery-loss, model-specific surge and appropriate phase protection. |
| Starter checks | Confirm the starter, capacitor arrangement where applicable, and controller switching interface. | Confirm the starter/contactor arrangement and phase-protection configuration. |
| Source recovery | Single-phase recovery-timer options are available. | Three-phase recovery-timer options are available; confirm the exact model code. |
Controller voltage ranges are not a guarantee that every motor can operate safely throughout those ranges. The motor, starter and electrical protection specifications must also be satisfied. Neither controller type should be assumed to convert one supply phase into another.
Why the protection requirements differ
Three-phase systems need appropriate attention to phase loss, imbalance and the starter arrangement. Single-phase systems need a compatible starting arrangement and voltage protection. Both can be affected by unsuitable voltage, inadequate water delivery or installation faults; voltage protection is not only a single-phase concern.
A protective controller works with the installation's electrical safeguards. Correct earthing, wiring, motor protection and professional installation remain necessary.
Which Sri DIGITEK® model should you explore?
- ULDX-DR-1PH: single-phase borewell controller. Confirm the exact protection features and starter compatibility.
- ULDX-DR-3PH: three-phase borewell controller. Confirm the supplied phase-protection and starter arrangement.
- Low-source recovery-timer controllers: single-phase and three-phase options. These run while water is delivered; delivery loss stops the pump and starts the configured recovery interval. They retry after that interval until the overhead tank is full.
A recovery timer differs from a real-time programmable timer, which starts the pump at scheduled daily times. Choose according to the water-source behaviour and the required operating sequence.
What to share before choosing
Send the nameplate details, starter type, pump rating, tank layout, source-recovery behaviour and required protections. Avoid choosing by a general HP range or wire-count rule. Compare borewell models or use the controller finder, then confirm the supplied configuration with our team.
